Medical Conditions and Medications Impact on Older Adults’ Driving Safety

Consult with your doctor if certain medications or medical conditions may interfere with your driving safety.

While not solely based on aging, we can experience changes in our health and mobility that may interfere with maintaining our ability to drive safely. By attending regularly scheduled doctor’s visits and annual check-ups, you have the chance to speak with your doctor to understand how certain medical conditions or medications may impact your daily activities, such as driving.

Story of my Life

Story of my Life (One Direction) – We all have a story to tell – about personal or professional experiences or even some that cross between the two. Sometimes we don’t realize how impactful our stories can be. Therefore, we hold them inside, thinking they aren’t that important or that strong.

Think About It

It’s January and the start of a new year. It’s a good time for new beginnings. It’s also a time when we typically take stock of where we are and what we want in the coming year. My song for this month is “Think” by Aretha Franklin and my ask is that you think about planning for your transportation future. I know it sounds boring, but think about it: at a certain age we all start thinking about financial planning and medical directives. We face the fact that we need to take control of our future and plan for the road ahead.

Those Were The Days from 1968

Those Were the Days from 1968 – is likely a one hit wonder but it got me thinking. I remember being “young and sure” and thinking nothing could hurt me. Many of us likely felt this sense of invincibility in our youth and I know that feeling has lingered even as I’ve grown “older and wiser.”  It is that lingering feeling of “I know what I know” and “it won’t happen to me” that can sometimes lead to an outcome that could’ve been avoided in life and on the road.
